By Michaela LippmanUSA TODAY, March 10, 2018–(BUSINESS WIRE)–(BUSKEY: USA TODAY)–(NYSE: T)–In honor of National Balloon Fiesta Weekend, the Walt Disney Company today announced that it has partnered with the Walt Family Foundation and the Walt Corporation for the commercial balloon paintaug program.
The program will include a $1.5 million award to an artist who designs a commercial paintauge and will award $100,000 to an individual who designs and builds a commercial balloon.
The Walt Disney Companies and Walt Family Foundations will jointly support the balloon paintauges program through the Walt D. Disney Company, the program’s lead sponsor, as well as the Walt Corp., the Walt family’s charitable foundation.
Disney’s Walt Disney World Resort and the theme parks will also support the program, with the latter supporting the balloon painting effort through its Disney-Pixar Animation Studios.
The $1,5 million Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Balloon Paintaug Award will be given to a Disney Parks and Resorts artist who demonstrates a commitment to the theme park experience.
Artists selected for the award will have the opportunity to earn a Disney park pass to the parks, which includes complimentary food and beverage, as a part of their Walt Disney Park Pass, and the opportunity for free entrance to Walt Disney Imagineering Studios.
Disney Parks artists will also have the option of participating in a balloon painting competition at Walt Disney Land to be hosted by the Walt Development Group and the Disney Parks Foundation.
Artists chosen for the competition will receive a $100 gift certificate and an opportunity to work with Walt Disney Design to create a commercial painting project for the theme of their choice.
The Walt Disney Family Foundation will also be supporting the Balloon Paintauges award with an award of $50,000.
The award also includes $1 million to support the Balloon Fiesta, an annual celebration of the balloons industry and a nonprofit dedicated to fostering creativity and innovation in the ballooning industry.
The award also will support the Walt Animation Studios, which will host the Balloon Painting competition.

Disney Parks and Walt Disney Animation Studios will be celebrating Balloon Fiesta weekend in parks across the world through October 5 with balloon-making demonstrations, special guest appearances and a live broadcast of live balloon art.
The Balloon Fiesta is the nation’s largest annual celebration dedicated to ballooning, with balloon art demonstrations spanning the globe.
This year’s event is expected to attract more than 10 million visitors.
