Apple Solar Project Commercial Solar Project: Apple is launching commercial projects with a total of $1.9 billion in financing, the company announced on Monday.
The company said that it will use the financing to create 1,000 commercial projects and that Apple is looking to “transform the commercial sector into a sustainable, environmentally sustainable energy source.”
The project is being led by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), which represents the industry’s largest solar developers.
Apple is not alone in its effort to turn commercial solar into a viable business.
SolarCity, a New York-based solar company, said in May it will build its first commercial project.
That project, which is currently under construction, will be the largest commercial solar farm in the U.S. and is expected to create over 600 jobs.
The new financing will help to provide further financing for the project, the announcement said.
Apple also announced a partnership with the United Solar Alliance (USA), which will be offering a discount on the solar panels that will be installed by the project.
