NBA 2k Sports has acquired a design for the new Sacramento Kings arena in downtown Sacramento, the league announced Monday.
The Kings are expected to announce the construction of the arena during the NBA 2ks Live Event, which takes place Nov. 14-17 at the California Convention Center.
The arena is set to open in 2019.
The Kings will begin play in 2019-20 and are expected play in the NBA Finals in 2020.
The NBA is still evaluating the design for an arena, but a majority of the teams in the league’s West division are expected use the arena.
The project, which is expected to cost $1 billion, includes a new, 15,000-seat arena that will feature an open-air seating area, a glass-and-steel exterior, and a retractable roof that will provide fans with a more comfortable experience.
The Sacramento Kings’ new arena will open in 2020 and seat around 29,000 fans.
The team is also expected to add additional seating, including a second level that seats between 10,000 and 11,000.NBA 2kSports also recently completed a commercial project for a commercial service project.
The project, titled Commercial Project Design, involves a team of architects, design teams and contractors.
The work includes a proposal to convert the former Pacific Life Arena, located at the intersection of Highway 101 and Interstate 80, into a commercial facility.
The stadium is expected be the largest in the Western Conference and the first NBA arena to be built in the city since the Kings relocated to Sacramento in 2000.
The Sacramento Kings will host their first season of NBA basketball in 2020-21.
